About Wirehaired Vizsla Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Wirehaired Vizsla, developed in 1930s Hungary by crossing Vizslas with German Wirehaired Pointers, is a versatile sporting breed created for all weather hunting, pointing, and retrieving on land and in water. Classified in the AKC Sporting Group, they stand 21.5-25 inches tall and weigh 45-65 pounds, with a dense wiry double coat, pronounced beard and eyebrows, and rich golden rust color. Grooming is moderate: brush weekly, hand strip occasionally, and check ears. Affectionate, driven, and deeply bonded to family, they need 1-2 hours of vigorous daily exercise and suit active homes, not apartment life.
