About Weimaraner Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Weimaraner, originating in Germany as a versatile gun dog for large game and later birds, is a medium to large member of the Sporting Group known for its sleek silver gray coat, athletic build, and amber or blue gray eyes. Highly energetic, intelligent, and devoted but strong willed, they thrive on daily vigorous exercise, mental stimulation, early socialization, and consistent training, and may develop separation anxiety without enough activity. Grooming is low maintenance with a short coat that benefits from weekly brushing and occasional baths; they drool little, shed lightly to moderately, and are not hypoallergenic. Adults typically stand 23-27 inches and weigh 55-90 pounds, and common health concerns include hip dysplasia, bloat, certain eye and thyroid issues, and ear infections, so regular veterinary care and a proper diet are important.
