About Tibetan Terrier Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Tibetan Terrier, originating in the monasteries of Tibet, is a medium sized companion in the Non Sporting Group, bred for centuries as a treasured good luck watchdog and versatile helper on rugged mountain terrain. Despite the name, they are not true terriers. Standing 14-17 inches tall and weighing 18-30 pounds, they are sturdy and square with a profuse double coat and distinctive flat, snowshoe like feet. Grooming is demanding: brush thoroughly several times a week to prevent mats, with regular ear and nail care. Affectionate, sensitive, and clever, they bond deeply with family, enjoy moderate daily exercise, and suit attentive homes. Health concerns include progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, lens luxation, and neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis.
