About Tibetan Spaniel Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Tibetan Spaniel, originating in Tibet, is a small companion breed in the Non Sporting Group historically kept by Buddhist monks as watchful lookouts and prized lap warmers in monasteries. Confident, intelligent, and affectionate with family yet aloof with strangers, Tibbies bond closely with their people and do well with children and other pets. Typically 9-10 inches tall and 9-15 pounds, they carry a silky double coat with a flowing mane, feathered ears, tail, and britches, needing weekly brushing plus extra attention during seasonal shedding. Moderate daily walks and play satisfy their exercise needs. Health concerns include progressive retinal atrophy, cherry eye, patellar luxation, portosystemic shunt, and allergies.
