About Thai Ridgeback Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Thai Ridgeback, originating in Thailand, is an ancient medium to large breed in the AKC Foundation Stock Service, historically used for hunting, cart guarding, and protecting rural homes. Standing 20-24 inches tall and weighing 35-75 pounds, they are muscular and athletic, with a distinctive ridge of hair running opposite the coat along the back. The short, smooth coat in blue, black, red, or fawn requires only weekly brushing and occasional baths. Intelligent, independent, and devoted to family, they are naturally reserved with strangers and benefit from early socialization, firm consistent training, and daily vigorous exercise. Best suited to experienced owners with a secure yard.
