About Slovensky Cuvac Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Slovensky Cuvac, originating in the mountains of Slovakia, is a large livestock guardian in the AKC Foundation Stock Service developed to protect sheep, cattle, and homesteads from wolves and bears in the Tatra range. Courageous, loyal, and naturally vigilant, they are devoted to family yet wary of strangers, making them best suited to experienced owners with space and a job to do. Typically 22-28 inches tall and 68-97 pounds, they carry a dense, weather resistant double coat that is always pure white, requiring weekly brushing and more frequent care during heavy seasonal shedding. They need substantial daily exercise, mental engagement, and early socialization, thriving in active rural or suburban homes with secure fencing and older, respectful children.
