About Skye Terrier Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Skye Terrier, originating on Scotland's Isle of Skye, is a small to medium breed in the Terrier Group developed centuries ago to hunt fox, badger, and otter among the rocky cairns of the Hebrides. Standing about 9-10 inches tall and weighing 35-45 pounds, they are distinctively long and low, roughly twice as long as they are tall, with a flowing double coat and dramatic feathering on the ears and tail. Loyal, fearless, and dignified, Skyes are devoted to their families but reserved with strangers. Grooming demands weekly brushing to prevent mats, routine ear and dental care, and nail trims. They enjoy moderate daily walks and thrive in calm, attentive households.

About these recommendations. PuppyReports surfaces the basic health screening recommendations for each breed in accordance with the principles established by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program. The OFA, working with each breed’s primary US parent club, sets the recommended testing list per breed. Recommendations may vary by country and region (US OFA CHIC, European FCI, UK Kennel Club, Australian National Kennel Council, etc.).
