About Shollie Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Shollie, a cross between the German Shepherd and the Collie, is a large hybrid recognized by designer registries such as the ACHC and IDCR but not by the AKC. Adults stand 21-29 inches and weigh 70-130 pounds, carrying a dense double coat that varies by generation (F1, F1B, multigen) from shorter Shepherd like to longer Collie feathering, with heavy seasonal shedding. Expect a loyal, protective working dog with the Shepherd's drive and trainability paired with the Collie's herding instinct and family oriented gentleness. Both parent breeds contribute health concerns (see health panel). Best suited to experienced owners with fenced yards, daily exercise, and time for training.

Parent Breeds

This is a designer cross combining: German Shepherd + Collie. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.

About these recommendations. PuppyReports surfaces the basic health screening recommendations for each breed in accordance with the principles established by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program. The OFA, working with each breed’s primary US parent club, sets the recommended testing list per breed. Recommendations may vary by country and region (US OFA CHIC, European FCI, UK Kennel Club, Australian National Kennel Council, etc.).
