About Sealyham Terrier Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Sealyham Terrier, developed in Wales during the mid 1800s by Captain John Edwardes of Sealy Ham estate, was bred to hunt badger, otter, and fox alongside hounds. Classified in the AKC Terrier Group, this sturdy, low slung breed stands 10.5 inches tall and weighs 20-24 pounds. The weather resistant double coat features a soft undercoat and harsh wiry outer jacket, predominantly white with lemon, tan, or badger markings, requiring weekly brushing, regular beard cleaning, and hand stripping or clipping every few months. Calmer and more even tempered than most terriers, Sealyhams are alert, outgoing, and affectionate, thriving with moderate daily walks and play. They make devoted, adaptable family companions suited to homes with older children and respectful pets.
