About Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Romanian Mioritic Shepherd, originating in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, is an extra large livestock guardian in the Foundation Stock Service group, developed over centuries to protect sheep from wolves and bears. Standing 27-29 inches tall and weighing 100-130 pounds, they are powerfully built with a long, shaggy white double coat that demands thorough brushing two to three times weekly and periodic bathing to prevent matting. Calm, devoted, and fearless, they bond deeply with family while remaining reserved with strangers. They need substantial daily exercise, secure acreage, and confident owners; best suited to rural homes with older children.
