About Poochon Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Poochon, a cross between the Poodle and the Bichon Frise, is a small companion dog not recognized by the AKC but registered through designer organizations such as ACHC and IDCR. Adults stand 9-15 inches and weigh 6-17 pounds, with coats ranging from soft waves in F1 litters to tighter, curlier, lower shedding coats in F1B and multigen crosses; plan on professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Expect the Bichon's cheerful, people oriented playfulness paired with the Poodle's quick witted trainability and sensitivity. Best suited to attentive owners, including apartment dwellers and first time handlers, who can provide daily companionship and consistent positive training.

Parent Breeds

This is a designer cross combining: Poodle + Bichon Frise. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.

About these recommendations. PuppyReports surfaces the basic health screening recommendations for each breed in accordance with the principles established by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program. The OFA, working with each breed’s primary US parent club, sets the recommended testing list per breed. Recommendations may vary by country and region (US OFA CHIC, European FCI, UK Kennel Club, Australian National Kennel Council, etc.). Always review current requirements with your breed’s parent club for your jurisdiction. Last reviewed: 2026-05-02.
