About Polish Lowland Sheepdog Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog (Polski Owczarek Nizinny) is a medium sized herding breed from Poland, originally developed to drive and guard flocks, known for its intelligent, confident, and loyal nature that can be reserved with strangers yet affectionate with family. Typically 17-20 inches tall and 30-50 pounds, it has a sturdy build and a dense, shaggy double coat that often covers the eyes. Energy is moderate, but this breed thrives on daily walks plus mental work such as training or herding style games. Grooming needs are high despite generally low shedding, expect thorough brushing several times a week and occasional trims to prevent mats. Early, consistent socialization and positive training help manage independence and strong herding instincts. Common health concerns include hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and hypothyroidism. Classified in the Herding Group, the breed is not considered hypoallergenic.
