About Parson Russell Terrier Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Parson Russell Terrier, developed in 19th century England by the Reverend John 'Jack' Russell, is a small, square built working terrier in the AKC Terrier Group, originally bred to bolt red fox from their dens alongside mounted hunts. Standing 13-14 inches tall and weighing 13-17 pounds, this breed carries either a smooth or broken (wire) weather resistant coat in predominantly white with black, tan, or tricolor markings; weekly brushing, occasional hand stripping for broken coats, routine nail trims, and dental care keep them tidy. Bold, clever, and tireless, Parsons are affectionate family dogs who demand vigorous daily exercise, mental challenges, and early socialization, suiting active households over sedentary homes.
