About Papillon Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Papillon, a small companion breed from France/Belgium in the Toy Group, was bred as an elegant lapdog and lively partner and is famed for its butterfly like ears and alert expression. Cheerful, intelligent, and eager to please, they are highly trainable and energetic, thriving on daily walks and mental games and excelling in agility and obedience. Typically 8-11 inches tall and 5-10 pounds, they have a fine boned frame and a long, silky single coat with feathering and a plumed tail. Grooming includes brushing several times a week to prevent tangles in the feathering, managing year round shedding with seasonal increases, and regular ear, nail, and especially dental care; they are not hypoallergenic. Health considerations may include patellar luxation, dental disease, and progressive retinal atrophy, so routine veterinary checkups and gentle handling are recommended.

- Are the parents registered with the AKC or relevant breed club?
- What is your return policy if the dog cannot remain in my home?
- Can I visit, meet the parents, and see where the puppies are raised?
- Do you provide a written health guarantee and vaccination records?
