About Norwegian Lundehund Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Norwegian Lundehund, originating in Norway, is a small spitz type breed in the Non Sporting Group developed to scale sea cliffs and hunt puffins from rocky crevices. Uniquely built with six toes per foot, extra flexible shoulders, and a head that bends backward to the spine, they stand 12-15 inches tall and weigh 15-20 pounds. The dense double coat sheds seasonally and needs weekly brushing. Alert, energetic, and loyal yet quirky and independent, they need moderate daily exercise and do best with patient, experienced families. Health concerns include Lundehund syndrome, protein losing enteropathy, lymphangiectasia, and patellar luxation.
