About Morkie Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Morkie, a cross between the Maltese and the Yorkshire Terrier, is a tiny companion recognized by designer registries such as the ACHC and IDCR but not by the AKC. Adults stand 6-10 inches tall and weigh 4-8 pounds, with a silky, low shedding coat that varies across F1, F1B, and multigen litters from straight and flowing to softly wavy. Expect a bold, spunky personality from the Yorkie side paired with affectionate, lap loving devotion from the Maltese, plus sharp alertness and a tendency to bark at strangers. Health concerns inherited from both parents are outlined in the health panel. Best suited to attentive singles, seniors, or apartment dwellers who can provide gentle handling, daily companionship, and consistent small dog training.

Parent Breeds

This is a designer cross combining: Maltese + Yorkshire Terrier. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.

About these recommendations. PuppyReports surfaces the basic health screening recommendations for each breed in accordance with the principles established by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program. The OFA, working with each breed’s primary US parent club, sets the recommended testing list per breed. Recommendations may vary by country and region (US OFA CHIC, European FCI, UK Kennel Club, Australian National Kennel Council, etc.).
