About Mastiff Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Mastiff, originating in England, is a giant Working Group guardian bred to protect estates, now prized as a calm, loyal, and gentle family companion that is watchful with strangers. Massive and powerful with a broad head and a short, smooth coat typically in fawn, apricot, or brindle with a dark mask, it is a low energy breed that thrives on daily, moderate walks and relaxed time with its people. Grooming is simple thanks to its low shedding coat, but owners should expect heavy drooling and routine wipe downs; regular brushing and basic hygiene suffice. Early socialization and consistent, gentle training are important due to its size, and care should include avoiding overexertion and heat while maintaining a healthy weight. Common health concerns include hip and elbow problems, bloat, heart disease, and certain eye issues; the breed is not hypoallergenic and often exceeds 150 pounds.

Before You Choose a Mastiff Puppy
- Can I see health screening documentation for both parents?
- Are the parents registered with the AKC or relevant breed club?
- What is your return policy if the dog cannot remain in my home?
- Can I visit, meet the parents, and see where the puppies are raised?
- Do you provide a written health guarantee and vaccination records?
