About Labradoodle Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Labradoodle, a cross between the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle, is a medium to large companion recognized by designer registries such as the ACHC and IDCR but not by the AKC. Adults typically stand 21-24 inches and weigh 50-65 pounds, with coats ranging from the Labrador's straight flat coat in F1 litters to the Poodle's curly low shed fleece in F1B and multigen lines; weekly brushing and regular clipping are required. Expect the Labrador's sociable, food motivated enthusiasm paired with the Poodle's quick problem solving and sensitivity, producing a dog that excels at obedience and retrieving games but dislikes isolation. Health concerns are inherited from both parents (see health panel). Best suited to active families with yard space who can commit to daily exercise and training.

Parent Breeds

This is a designer cross combining: Labrador Retriever + Poodle. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.

About these recommendations. PuppyReports surfaces the basic health screening recommendations for each breed in accordance with the principles established by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program. The OFA, working with each breed’s primary US parent club, sets the recommended testing list per breed. Recommendations may vary by country and region (US OFA CHIC, European FCI, UK Kennel Club, Australian National Kennel Council, etc.). Always review current requirements with your breed’s parent club for your jurisdiction. Last reviewed: 2026-05-02.
