About Labernese Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Labernese, a cross between the Labrador Retriever and the Bernese Mountain Dog, is a large companion dog recognized by designer registries such as the ACHC and IDCR, though not by AKC. Adults stand 24-28 inches and weigh 65-110 pounds, wearing a dense double coat that varies by generation (F1, F1B, multigen) from the Lab's short water resistant coat to the Berner's longer tricolor feathering; expect heavy seasonal shedding. Affectionate, eager to please, and gentle with children, they inherit the Lab's playful drive and retrieving instinct alongside the Berner's calm, loyal watchfulness. Health concerns from both parents apply, see health panel. Best suited to families with yard space, cool climates, and time for daily exercise.
Parent Breeds
This is a designer cross combining: Labrador Retriever + Bernese Mountain Dog. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.
