About Jackshund Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Jackshund, a cross between the Jack Russell Terrier and the Dachshund, is a small designer hybrid not recognized by the AKC but registered with the ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club) and IDCR. Adults typically stand 8-13 inches and weigh 15-28 pounds, with F1, F1B, and multigen litters producing smooth or wiry coats that shed moderately. Expect a bold, tenacious earthdog personality: feisty and fearless from the Jack Russell side, stubborn and scent driven from the Dachshund side, plus strong prey drive and a loud alert bark. Inherits health concerns from both parents (see health panel). Best suited to experienced owners who can provide firm training, daily exercise, and a secure yard.
Parent Breeds
This is a designer cross combining: Jack Russell Terrier + Dachshund. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.
