About Italian Greyhound Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Italian Greyhound, an elegant small sighthound from Italy, was bred as a companion with quick bursts of speed for small game and today is classified in the Toy Group. Light and fine boned (about 13-15 inches tall and 7-14 pounds), they are affectionate, gentle, and sensitive, bonding closely with family and sometimes reserved with strangers. Their short, smooth coat sheds little, needs minimal grooming. They drool very little; provide moderate daily exercise, a secure leash or yard due to a strong chase instinct, and warmth in cool weather. Common concerns include dental disease, fragile legs and related joint issues, and some eye problems; they are not considered hypoallergenic and benefit from consistent dental care and patient housetraining.
