About Ibizan Hound Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Ibizan Hound, originating from Ibiza in Spain, is a medium to large hound group sighthound bred to hunt rabbits, known for its elegant, athletic build and large upright ears. Friendly, affectionate, and often clownish with family yet sensitive and reserved with strangers, it’s intelligent and independent with a strong prey drive, needing daily vigorous exercise and secure fencing. Its short smooth or wiry coat sheds little and is easy to care for with occasional brushing. It drools minimally. Adults typically stand about 22-27 inches tall and weigh around 45-50 pounds. Generally healthy, they can be prone to hip dysplasia and bloat (stomach twisting) and, like many sighthounds, may be sensitive to certain anesthetics; they are not considered hypoallergenic.
