About Finnish Spitz Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Finnish Spitz, originating in Finland where it serves as the national dog, is a medium sized spitz breed in the Non Sporting Group developed to hunt game birds by barking to alert hunters and hold the quarry's attention. Bold, lively, and famously vocal, they are loyal family companions that do well with children and thrive with active owners who can provide daily vigorous exercise. Males stand 17.5-20 inches and females 15.5-18 inches, weighing 20-33 pounds. Their glorious double coat of golden red requires weekly brushing, with heavy seasonal shedding demanding daily grooming. Health concerns include hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, epilepsy, diabetes mellitus, and elbow dysplasia.
