About English Springer Spaniel Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The English Springer Spaniel, originating in England as a versatile gundog for flushing and retrieving birds, is a medium sized Sporting Group breed known for its cheerful, affectionate nature and high energy. Typically 19-20 inches tall and 40-55 pounds, it has a medium length, weather resistant coat with feathering and common liver and white or black and white markings. Springers thrive on daily vigorous exercise and training to channel their enthusiasm. They need regular grooming, brushing several times a week, occasional trimming, and routine ear care, since they shed moderately and have pendulous ears; they are not hypoallergenic and are generally not heavy droolers. Common health concerns include hip problems, ear infections, and inherited eye issues, with some dogs also prone to skin allergies, so maintaining a healthy weight and scheduling regular vet checks are important.
