About Dandie Dinmont Terrier Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Dandie Dinmont Terrier, originating along the Scottish English border, is a small earthdog in the Terrier Group developed in the 1700s to hunt badgers and otters, later immortalized by Sir Walter Scott's novel Guy Mannering. Standing 8-11 inches tall and weighing 18-24 pounds, this distinctive breed features a long low slung body, short legs, and a signature silky topknot crowning a large expressive head. The weather resistant double coat, in pepper or mustard, needs weekly brushing and professional hand stripping two or three times yearly. Dignified, independent, affectionate, and surprisingly bold, Dandies enjoy moderate daily walks and play, suiting attentive families and calm households.
