About Dalmachshund Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Dalmachshund, a cross between the Dalmatian and the Dachshund, is a small to medium companion not recognized by the AKC but registered through designer organizations such as the ACHC and IDCR. Adults typically stand 8-15 inches and weigh 15-35 pounds, with F1 litters showing considerable variation in leg length and build; coats run short and smooth, sometimes carrying the Dalmatian's signature spotting over a Dachshund like frame. Expect a bold, stubborn, prey driven dog with the Dachshund's tenacity and the Dalmatian's stamina and watchful nature. Owners should watch for back issues, deafness, and urinary concerns inherited from both sides. Best suited to experienced owners who can provide firm training, daily exercise, and a secure yard.
Parent Breeds
This is a designer cross combining: Dalmatian + Dachshund. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.
