About Chowdoodle Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Chowdoodle, a cross between the Chow Chow and the Standard or Miniature Poodle, is a medium to large hybrid not recognized by AKC but listed with the ACHC and IDCR. Adults typically stand 14-20 inches and weigh 45-70 pounds. Coat varies by generation: F1 pups often show a dense, plush fleece, while F1B and multigen litters lean toward the Poodle's curlier, lower shedding texture requiring weekly brushing. Expect the Chow's dignified, aloof loyalty paired with the Poodle's quick witted trainability and playfulness. Health concerns come from both parents (see health panel). Best suited to experienced owners who can offer firm early socialization and daily exercise.

Parent Breeds

This is a designer cross combining: Chow Chow + Poodle. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.
