About Chorkie Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Chorkie, a cross between the Chihuahua and the Yorkshire Terrier, is a toy sized companion recognized by the ACHC and IDCR rather than the AKC. Adults typically stand 6-9 inches and weigh 4-10 pounds, with coats ranging from the Yorkie's silky, low shedding texture to the Chihuahua's shorter, smoother variety depending on whether the dog is F1, F1B, or multigen. Expect a bold, alert, feisty little dog that is deeply loyal to one person, wary of strangers, and quick to bark. Best suited to adult households or families with older children who can commit to patient training and dental care.

Parent Breeds

This is a designer cross combining: Chihuahua + Yorkshire Terrier. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.

About these recommendations. PuppyReports surfaces the basic health screening recommendations for each breed in accordance with the principles established by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program. The OFA, working with each breed’s primary US parent club, sets the recommended testing list per breed. Recommendations may vary by country and region (US OFA CHIC, European FCI, UK Kennel Club, Australian National Kennel Council, etc.). Always review current requirements with your breed’s parent club for your jurisdiction. Last reviewed: 2026-05-02.
