About Chiweenie Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Chiweenie, a cross between the Chihuahua and the Dachshund, is a small companion dog not recognized by the AKC but registered with designer groups such as the ACHC and IDCR. Adults stand 6-10 inches and weigh 5-12 pounds, with coat varying by generation: F1 dogs may be short and smooth or slightly longer and wiry, while F1B and multigen litters skew toward one parent. Bold, saucy, and fiercely loyal from the Chihuahua side, with the Dachshund's stubborn tenacity and digging instincts, Chiweenies bond intensely with one person. Best suited to adult households or families with older children who can respect their small frame.
Parent Breeds
This is a designer cross combining: Chihuahua + Dachshund. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.
