About Cairn Terrier Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Cairn Terrier, originating in the Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye, is a small earthdog in the Terrier Group developed to bolt fox, otter, and vermin from rocky cairns. Famously cast as Toto in The Wizard of Oz, this breed is alert, cheerful, and full of bold working spirit. Standing 9.5-10 inches tall and weighing 13-14 pounds, Cairns sport a weather resistant double coat with a harsh wiry outer layer in wheaten, brindle, red, gray, or black. Hand stripping a few times yearly preserves coat texture, with weekly brushing, routine nail trims, and dental care. They need brisk daily walks and play, and suit active families comfortable with a confident, busy terrier.

Before You Choose a Cairn Terrier Puppy
- Can I see health screening documentation for both parents?
- Are the parents registered with the AKC or relevant breed club?
- What is your return policy if the dog cannot remain in my home?
- Can I visit, meet the parents, and see where the puppies are raised?
- Do you provide a written health guarantee and vaccination records?
