About Brussels Griffon Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts
The Brussels Griffon, a small Toy Group breed from Belgium originally used to rid stables of rats and later prized as a charming companion, is alert, affectionate, and sensitive, often bonding closely with one person and doing best with gentle handling. Compact at about 7-12 pounds and 9-11 inches tall, it has a short muzzle, large expressive eyes, and comes in rough (wire) and smooth coats. Exercise needs are moderate, daily walks and play suffice, while grooming is notable: rough coats benefit from regular hand stripping or professional care, smooth coats need weekly brushing, facial cleaning helps, and shedding ranges from moderate to high (especially in smooth coats); the breed is not hypoallergenic. Health considerations include heat and breathing sensitivity due to the short muzzle, eye issues (such as corneal injuries or cataracts), patellar luxation, and dental problems, so responsible breeding and routine vet and dental care are important.
