About Bassador Puppies, Breeders & DogFacts

The Bassador, a cross between the Basset Hound and the Labrador Retriever, is a medium sized hybrid recognized by designer registries such as the ACHC and IDCR rather than the AKC. Adults typically stand 13-20 inches and weigh 45-70 pounds, with a short, dense double coat that sheds year round; F1 pups often show the Basset's long body and low stance, while F1B and multigen dogs lean more Lab in build. Expect the Lab's friendly, food motivated sociability paired with the Basset's stubborn streak, strong nose, and baying voice. Suited to patient owners with a fenced yard who can commit to daily exercise and scent based enrichment.

Parent Breeds

This is a designer cross combining: Basset Hound + Labrador Retriever. As a mixed breed cross, individual puppies may inherit traits from either parent breed in varying degrees. Health testing requirements and temperament expectations should be evaluated for both parent breeds.

About these recommendations. PuppyReports surfaces the basic health screening recommendations for each breed in accordance with the principles established by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) program. The OFA, working with each breed’s primary US parent club, sets the recommended testing list per breed. Recommendations may vary by country and region (US OFA CHIC, European FCI, UK Kennel Club, Australian National Kennel Council, etc.).
